Romano Brida entered Taste of Runway’s living room with his vest, his tattoos, many stories to tell and a hint of irony. I had a mission: I wanted to create a vodka cocktail inspired to his look. So I created a Dirty Martini, published for “Taste of People” (#tasteofpeople), my new exciting project that will sometimes separate from runways to create recipes inspired by friends. Thank you to all those who will pose for me, have their picture taken and leave it to the fate to decide for them. You will be shaken (like Romano), mixed (like me), blended, baked, seasoned… The important thing is that you won’t ask for a refund for the damages occurred if, for some strange reason, you were to be associated with a recipe that is heavy and difficult to digest. I assure you that every inspiration will be purely coincidental.
|Recipe. FOR 1 GLASS50ml (1.7 fl oz) Ketel One vodka + 5ml (0.17 fl oz) dry vermouth + 5ml (0.17 fl oz) olive brine + one oliva + ice.
Pour the ingredients into the mixing glass with some ice, stir well and pour it (using the special cocktail strainer that will keep the ice from falling into the drink), into the frozen glasses. Decorate with a green olive.
Who are you, what do you do?
My name’s Romano Brida. I founded “Bullfrog”, an old-style barber shop inspired by the traditional American barbers’ of the 30s.
Tell us something about yourself.
I have a beautiful 12-year old boy (Leonardo) and I have been married for 14 years to Anna Maria Negri. She is the dark soul of Bullfrog and has been working as make-up artist for over 25 years. One of the most appreciated Italian professional. For three years, she has been beauty editor for L’Officiel Italia.
What is your favourite dish?
Without any doubt, carbonara pasta.
What is your favourite look?
I love everything that has a story behind it. I think that clothes have a lot to tell.
What are the accessories you cannot do without?
My vest, a comb (which has to be in my vest pocket), my 1972 Rolex, with the engraving of a Chinese Dragon on it. A mechanical pencil and a pocket knife.
Agnostic bullfrog. The first product I have created. It’s a beard balm specially designed by me. A mix of anise (head notes), leather and tobacco (heart notes), together with bay rum perfume oil.
My keys, without which I would be lost.
What colour is your soul?
You’ve become a Dirty Martini. Let’s make a toast!
Special thanks to Canon 100D.
