The suggestion of designers for this season? Never again without a white shirt in the closet! I think I have at least ten of them, all white, and yet so different one from another. The history of this iconic garment is very interesting, do you know it? In the past, it was considered as a symbol of wealth, because it was worn only by people who did not work and thus who did not alter its whiteness. Thanks to great movie stars such as Katharine Hepburn, Ava Gardner, and Audrey Hepburn, it became fashionable in the 40s. Refined and elegant, a symbol of a happy lifestyle such as in the movie “Roman holiday”, it gave women an almost divine look. But as we know, a new trend quickly began: there came the 60s, with Twiggy, and then the 70s, with Patti Smith, who turned it into an androgen garment, a symbol of a new style and female power. Conversely, the 80s turned it into a sensual and erotic garment, especially if women wore an over sized shirt taken directly from a man’s closet. As, for istance, Kim Basinger in “9½ Weeks”. Or Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman”. In the 90s, it became a symbol of minimalism. Designers seem to scream to the world: make it simple and clean. After all these years, we don’t seem to get tired of wearing a white shirt. I associate it with the sea, the sun, the summer and with happiness. I have enclosed all these feelings in an elegant, soft and refined smoothie, prepared with mango, yogurt and dried mint leaves. Try this light recipe to bring some freshness to your days!


Recipe FOR 1 GLASS

125 g (4.5 oz) low-fat plain yogurt + 1/2 mango + 1 tablespoon of dried mint (or some fresh mint leaves) + 1 tablespoon lime juice + 2 ice cubes.

Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until mixture is smooth. Pour into glass and drink immediately.
