campari negroni

This cocktail was created in 1919/20 by Count Camillo Negroni. One day at Caffè Casoni in Florence, the Count, tired of his favourite cocktail, the American, asked the bartender Fosco Scarselli to put a splash of gin rather than soda water. Since then, what was the usual cocktail for the Count, became the Negroni for everybody else at the Café. A legend that still lives today was thus created: one of the most famous Italian cocktails in the world.
