“Frans Hals knows no less than twenty-nine shades of black.” Van Gogh
I’m wondering what it means to know at least twenty-nine shades of black. If I tried today, I could probably just get five of them, if I was lucky, but twenty-nine it’s a wonderful madness. I am nostalgic about the past (as you might have guessed) and especially about the time when there was time to enjoy the immensity of a painting, a poem, or a landscape. Today I contemplate the art and the artists who changed the way to see the world.
“Artists can color the sky red because they know that is blue. Those of us who are not artists must color things as they really are, or people would think that they are stupid. “(Jules Feiffer)
Surprisingly, today’s cocktail is not red, yellow, nor other colors that we know well. The protagonist of the last recipe created for the wonderful project “Taste of Canali” has some shades of gray. The strong scent of tequila is moderated by the sweetness of the syrup of yerba mate. The fresh taste of mango and citrus fruits will make you want to take another sip. This recipe is inspired by the pure and essential lines of the outfit and the protagonist is once again color. It is a cocktail suitable for all hours of the day, inviting like a warm soft coat. The decoration with a slice of mango makes it even more elegant, just like the accessory that matches the outfit.
Recipe. 1 FOR GLASS
50 ml (1.7 fl oz) Don Julio white tequila + 20 ml (0.7 fl oz) orange juice + 10 ml (0.33 fl oz) lemon juice + 30 ml (1 fl oz) yerba mate syrup + 3 drops of black tea bitters + little pieces of mango + ice cubes for the shaker + long piece of ice for the glass.
Prepare the ice using a popsicle mold, so as to obtain a narrow and long shape, suitable for the type of glass.
Pour the ice cubes and all the ingredients in a shaker, shake for 1 minute and pour into the serving glass by adding the long piece of ice and a slice of mango as decoration.
For the syrup of yerba mate: in 500 ml (17 fl oz) of water boil two handfuls of yerba mate. Add 500g (17.6) of white sugar, let it melt and let cool.
Yerba mate is a plant from which we obtain mate, a traditional drink of South America consumed as a ritual and always offered to guests.
